Crony is a social app currently in development. This page explains, in plain language, what happens with your information when you join our waitlist at thecronyapp.com.

What we collect

When you sign up we ask for your email address (required), and optionally your first name, location, Instagram handle, how you heard about us, and whether you'd like updates from us. That's everything. No tracking pixels, no ad cookies. The only thing stored in your browser is your light/dark mode preference.

Why we collect it

To manage the waitlist, to plan where Crony launches first (that's what location is for), to invite you to launch events, and, only if you ticked the box, to email you news about the launch and early access. If you didn't tick the box, we'll only contact you about things essential to your waitlist spot.

Where it's stored

Your details are stored securely with Supabase, our database provider, and are used to create your Crony account when the app launches. The waitlist is not publicly visible.

What we never do

We don't sell your information. We don't share it with advertisers. We only share data with the service providers that keep this site running (like our database and hosting providers), and only as far as needed to do that.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it entirely. Just email privacy@thecronyapp.com and we'll sort it out. If you're in South Africa, these rights are protected under POPIA; if you're in the EU/UK, under GDPR. Deleting your data before launch simply removes you from the waitlist.

Age

Crony is strictly 18+. If you're under 18, please don't join the waitlist. We'll remove entries we believe belong to minors.

Changes

If this policy changes in a meaningful way before launch, we'll email the waitlist about it.
